Groam House Museum in Rosemarkie sits on the site of Rosemarkie monastery and contains a world class collection of Pictish stones found on the site dating to the 9th century. They are also the custodians of the George Bain collection. I work with the museum on the shared aim of promoting insular culture, researching the collection and exhibiting new insular art.
This year’s exhibition, ‘Book of Kells, Mysteries Revealed’ has been supported by Creative Scotland through my project, The Insular Research Residency. It will open in April at Groam House Museum. It will include an insular scriptorium, George Bain’s studio, a video of making an insular manuscript from scratch and new interpretation of the Rosemarkie stones.
