The next course will be on the 25th April 2026, at the Castlehill Heritage Centre in Thurso. It will be a one day introductory course on the craft and materials of a medieval irish scribe including making ink, quills and working on parchment. It will run from 10am to 4pm, in the morning we will be making ink and quills and in the afternoon working on real parchment to create medieval irish calligraphy, evreyone can take thier artwork, ink and quills home. It’s £85 per person, with a discount to £68 for members of Castlehill Heritage Society. Bring a pack lunch and wear clothing suitable for being outdoors. No previous experience necessary.
